BORN PRETTY STORE NAIL ART PRODUCTS - REVIEW & NAIL ART IDEAS

It's amazing how something so simple, quick and easy can transform a manicure into a work of art.

Create a manicure at home just as good as one you'd get done at Salon with these awesome Born Pretty nail art accessories.

GOLD AND SILVER CIRCULAR NAIL STUDS
This Sectioned wheel contains 400 pieces of 6 different sized flat based gold and silver rounded studs.

These studs are three-dimensional, very round and spherical, more than any other studs i have ever used. What's really good about these is that they are plastic so they are very light-weight and they are also flat based so they can actually stick properly onto the nail.

The lightweight nail studs can be adhered to the nail simply by applying a dab of topcoat or nail glue to the nail, then carefully applying the stud to the chosen spot. I find that sealing the whole nail with a coat of clear topcoat also assists in the wear time and longevity of the manicure and keeps the studs stuck on.
You may also be able to adhere the stud to the nail while the base nail polish colour is still quite wet, the stud will then stick in place when the nail polish base dries.

*Using nail glue to adhere the stud will ensure that the stud sticks to the nail for a longer period of time than it would with topcoat, however I personally use topcoat (more specifically an old topcoat that has become quite thick) to stick the stud onto the nail and have no issues with this - the stud will usually remain adhered to my nail for about four-five days, provided i add a coat of topcoat over the stud and whole manicure and don't pick it off.

The six different sized studs in both silver and gold provide an easy and fun way to bling up any manicure with endless placement opportunities.

BLACK NAIL ART PEN
I'm really not the best when it comes to using a nail stripper or brush, so this nail art pen makes nail art so much easier. The fine tip of the pen also makes it easy to control and draw precise lines - awesome!
I tried the black nail art pen and was pleasantly surprised with the quality of it.
The ink is extremely fast drying and has a nice formula (not too runny or too thick).
If you feel the pen is not releasing enough ink, a quick shake of the pen and light pressure when drawing should correct the ink flow.

*TIPS:
  • Don't use too much pressure when drawing with the pen - i accidentally did and it resulted in a small puddle of black ink on my finger!
  • Make sure your base nail colour is completely dry and topcoated before using the nail art pen to avoid the pen picking up the base colour and making a mess.

When attempting any kind of nail art i hate it when i make a mistake and try to fix it and just make everything worse. Well with this nail art pen it is seriously mistake-proof which is awesome! It's surprisingly so easy to remove if you make a mistake. If you do make a mistake with a design created with the nail art pen you can simply wet a cue-tip with water (provided the ink from the pen is still semi wet) or nail polish remover, rub it gently over the mistake and viola the mistake is wiped away and you can start again!

These nail art pens are available in 16 colours - in literally every colour you could imagine.
I am definitely planning to purchase one in every colour. Love them!

MATTE NEON GLITTER
I'm a sucker for anything neon so there was no doubt that i would love these.

These awesome circular glitters come in a neon colour mix of pink, purple, yellow, green, blue, orange and coral and mixed in two different sizes. The glitters are matte which also gives them a nice unique touch.

The glitters are nice and thin so they are quite easy to work with and stick to the nail.

The glitter can be stuck to the nail easily while the base nail polish colour is still wet or by using a coat of topcoat, then placing the glitter on (while the topcoat is wet). Seal in the glitter by applying a coat of clear topcoat over the nail.

This glitter is super easy to use and perfect for individual glitter placement.
Manicure possibilities are endless with these glitters, you could really do anything with them to add a pop of colour to any manicure.

*Manicure ideas: place the glitters randomly all over the nail (like i did), add them to a nail art design you've created or even create a glitter gradient.

THE BODY SHOP - COLOUR CRUSH NAIL POLISH, NAIL CARE & NAIL ACCESSORIES - REVIEW

The Body Shop Nail Polish?!

Yes, you read that right! The Body Shop have just recently released a new Colour Crush nail polish range and nail care accessories!

I was lucky enough to try out and review some of the awesome new products.

THE BODY SHOP COLOUR CRUSH NAIL POLISH

The Body Shop have newly released 24 gorgeous shades of Colour Crush nail polish.

I tried three of these polishes and was so impressed!
After five days of wear, on my right hand (which is my dominant hand) with no topcoat there was minimal chipping and just some general tip wear, these polishes are fantastic!

The polishes have a nice smooth and creamy formula allowing for smooth application - the polish literally felt like it just glided naturally onto my nails.

The polish brush is also nice and wide for easy coverage on the nail with three swipes.

The Colour Crush polishes
  • Are 100% Vegan
  • Dry amazingly fast
  • Have a great smooth and creamy formula
  • Have an extremely Glossy finish - they don't even need a topcoat!
  • The polishes are BPA free and free of harsh chemicals including; Camphor, Toulene, Fornaldehyde and Formaldehyde resin

Here are some nail swatches of the colours i tried.

Red My Mind

Red My mind is a bright fire engine red nail polish colour.  It takes one coat of nail polish to get opaque. However with one coat you can still see visible nail line, so i prefer to do two coats or one nice thick coat. If visible nail line doesn't bother you, one thin coat is totally fine. It has a great smooth formula.

The Body Shop Green

The Body Shop Green is a gorgeous dark green nail polish colour (obviously from the name). It takes two coats of nail polish to get opaque. This polish has a great creamy formula which literally glides effortlessly on the nail.

Rosy Cheeks

Rosy Cheeks is a really pretty peach coral barbie pink colour. This polish takes one - two coats to get opaque. I found the formula of this polish to be a little streaky but it is totally manageable. The end result is a gorgeous vibrant colour with no streaks visible. It looked so much better on the nail than i had expected.

All three polishes tested lasted long, were extremely shiny and glossy and dried quickly. I definitely recommend you trying these out for yourself!

Colour Crush Nail Polish RRP: AU $8.95 each

THE BODY SHOP "NAIL ART PEN" / DOTTING TOOL

The Body Shop's new nail art pen / dotting tool lets you get creative with your nail polish and create simple and cute nail art designs.

The versatile double-sided tool allows for endless design and style possibilities.

The tool is easy to use, great for nail art can be used with any nail polish colour.

One end of the tool has a small point perfect for thin lines or really small polka dots.

The other end of the tool has a small but larger point perfect for medium sized polka dots and thicker lines.
The Body Shop's nail art tool makes perfect dots and thin stripes for nail art, to possibly create a really pretty dotticure and stripe pattern on your nails.

In my opinion however, it can be a bit difficult to create perfect straight lines with the tool, especially for a beginner, but with practice it is easy to master.

RRP: AU $11.95

THE BODY SHOP NAIL POLISHING BLOCK / BUFFER

A nail polishing block / buffer can be used to prepare nails for a manicure by smoothing any ridges or nail irregularities.

The Body Shop 4-sided nail polishing block is extremely simple to use, with each side labelled with step instructions.

Follow the numbers on each side of the nail polishing block to guide you.

Step #1 -  Black side: use to file and shape the nail edge
Step #2 -  Mint green side: use to smooth away any ridges on the surface of the nail
Step #3 -  Pale grey side: use to smooth and buff the nail
Step #4 -  White side: use to give a natural shine to the surface of the nail

*NOTE: Good for occasional use to smooth a damaged nail. To maintain nail health, should not be used daily.

RRP: AU $6.95

THE BODY SHOP SWEET ALMOND OIL NAIL POLISH REMOVER

The Body Shop's Sweet almond oil nail polish remover has a 4-in-1 caring formula with sweet almond and soya oil and is enriched with Community Fair Trade sugarcane essence / organic alcohol.

The nail polish remover:
  • Is acetone free which is great as it is therefore gentle on nails
  • Has a non-drying formula
  • It Softens cuticles
  • It Conditions nails improving the general condition of nails
This is a fantastic nail polish remover!

Just Soak a cotton pad with the sweet almond oil nail polish remover and hold gently over the nail for 5-10 seconds and viola! Nail polish gone with your nails not having had to sustain any harsh chemicals!

The Body Shop's sweet almond oil nail polish remover is a more natural based nail polish remover and is free of harsh chemicals.

I found the smell of the nail polish remover to not be very offensive, and it leaves a kind of sweet smell on your nails when it removes the nail polish - a lot more pleasant than acetone based nail polish removers.

RRP: AU $11.95 for 100ml
